iR-Analog & Thermal Modules

Product Introduction

In early 2018, Weintek released a high efficiency control solution: HMI+CODESYS+I/O Module, which has received positive feedback from customers. To make it a more viable solution for diverse industrial applications, Weintek has developed new iR Series module products: Analog I/O module and Temperature module. With these modules, users can capture analog signals (voltage, current, temperature), compute with HMI or controllers, and then output signals to control other units in the system. By providing a suite of useful features which works with minimal settings, iR Series can take care of the complex jobs that used to require PLC programming, and as a result can help save considerable amount of development time.

iR Series Analog Modules come in four models designed for different needs.

Features

Analog Input Modules

  • Configurable Channel Mode
    Each channel may be configured as input voltage or current mode (-10~+10V, -5V~+5V, 1~5V, -20~20mA, 4~20mA) for different applications.
  • User-Defined Conversion Rate
    Built-in digital-to-analog conversion with user-defined range eliminates the need for writing complex conversion program in PLC.
  • Input Filter
    The built-in filter enhances signal precision to achieve better control.
  • Disconnection Detection
    In 1-5V / 4-20mA mode, a channel alarm will be generated when input disconnection is detected.
  • Fast Conversion Mode
    The conversion time per channel is 2ms. In fast conversion mode, where only one channel is used, the conversion time can be reduced to 500us.

Case: Ultrasonic Water Level Sensor

Since water is never completely still, the detected value of water level can be very unstable and often result in false alarm or unwanted operation. Utilizing filter function and fast conversion mode, the analog input module can provide stable analog values fast. The built-in analog-to-digital conversion can quickly provide digital values converted from analog signal. The disconnection detection function can generate alarms when disconnection is detected, for the on-site personnel to investigate the situation.

 

Analog Output Modules

  • Configurable Channel Mode
    Each channel may be configured as output voltage or current mode (-10~+10V, -5V~+5V, 1~5V, -20~20mA, 4~20mA) for different applications.
  • User-Defined Conversion Rate
    Built-in digital-to-analog conversion with user-defined range eliminates the need for writing complex conversion program for PLC.
  • Linear Output (Soft-Start)
    Adjustable soft-start function allows gradual increase or decrease of output to reduce potential system impact.
  • Voltage Short Circuit & Current Open Circuit Protection
    The module will generate an alarm and stop output when voltage output short circuit or current output open circuit is detected.

Case: Pressure Control

In a constant pressure system that maintains stable water pressure, Analog Input Modules are used to collect data from pressure sensors. The system, having made calculation with input data, then deliver output signal by Analog Output Modules to an inverter to control the speed of the pump. Meanwhile, the linear output (soft-start) function can adjust the slew rate of signal output to prevent water hammer problem, effectively extending system lifespan.

 

Temperature Input Module

  • Supports most of the Thermocouple and RTD on the market

  • User-Defined Temperature Table
    Apart from the temperature tables of common Thermocouple and RTD, users can defined their own temperature reference tables so that even when the sensor type is not in the built-in list, the user can still define corresponding temperature table and use the temperature module to collect temperature values from the sensors.
  • Input Filter
    The built-in filter enhances signal quality to achieve better control.
  • Disconnection Detection
    A channel alarm will be generated when input sensor disconnection is detected.

Case: Air Conditioning

In an air conditioning system, temperature modules can be used to detect the ambient temperature. The detected value is used by PID controller of PLC, which calculates and produces desired output via an Analog Output Module to the inverter and the compressor to maintain stable indoor temperature. The built-in digital filter can stabilize temperature readings, and the temperature module can generate disconnection alarm when a disconnection occurs for the onsite personnel to handle the situation.
